NCL and WiCyS Partner for Fourth Annual Conference CTF Experience

The National Cyber League once again partnered with the Women in CyberSecurity conference to host a virtual Capture the Flag competition on March 11–12, continuing a growing tradition of hands-on learning and friendly competition within the cybersecurity community. This year marked the fourth year that NCL has hosted the CTF experience for conference participants.

Open to all WiCyS conference registrants - both students and professionals - the event drew strong engagement, with more than 435 participants competing in the virtual challenge environment. Competitors tackled realistic, industry-aligned cybersecurity scenarios designed to test and strengthen hands-on technical skills across a range of domains.

Participants competed individually and were ranked on separate student and professional leaderboards, allowing competitors to measure their progress against peers at similar stages in their cybersecurity journeys. At the conclusion of the event, prizes were awarded to the top five performers across both the student and non-student divisions.

While the CTF was structured as an individual competition, collaboration remained a key part of the experience. Participants were encouraged to discuss approaches, share ideas, and support one another while working through the challenges.

Throughout the two-day event, on-site CTF coaching was also available, giving participants the opportunity to receive guidance on challenges, connect with fellow competitors, and meet members of the NCL team.

NCL is grateful for its continued partnership with WiCyS, an organization that has made a significant impact on the cybersecurity community by advancing the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in the field. The collaboration continues to provide meaningful opportunities for both students and professionals to build technical skills, connect with peers, and grow within the cybersecurity ecosystem.
