Angela Ramos – Championing Students and the Cybersecurity Community
We love celebrating the educators who make a real difference in their students’ journeys—and Angela Ramos is exactly that kind of champion. Through her dedication, encouragement, and leadership, she’s helping students gain the skills, confidence, and experience they need to thrive in cybersecurity careers.
Angela first discovered the National Cyber League (NCL) through her students in the Ethical Hacking Club. Recognizing its value, she quickly integrated Capture the Flag (CTF) competitions into her curriculum, creating opportunities for students to apply classroom concepts in real-world scenarios. To Angela, CTFs aren’t just competitions—they’re gateways for students to strengthen problem-solving skills, think like cybersecurity professionals, and prepare for the challenges they’ll encounter in the industry.

Her impact has been remarkable. Under Angela’s guidance, students have flourished in a motivating, supportive environment that fosters healthy competition, deeper classroom engagement, and the confidence to push their limits. Beyond NCL, she’s also active in programs like the US Cyber Games and the 502 Project, and she’s passionate about helping professionals at all stages—including career changers—gain a foothold in cybersecurity through CTFs.
What makes Angela’s story even more powerful is her own unconventional path into cybersecurity. Her journey proves that there’s no single way to enter the field, and her persistence continues to inspire learners of all ages to follow their passions and pursue opportunities, no matter where they start. Now, as she works toward earning her PhD in cybersecurity, she brings not only expertise but also lived experience to her teaching and mentoring—showing students that growth and achievement are possible at every stage of life and career.
Angela isn’t just a coach—she’s a champion for NCL and the broader cyber community. She embodies what happens when mentorship, encouragement, and hands-on learning come together, and her leadership continues to open doors for students, professionals, and future cybersecurity leaders alike.
